“GPS” Pneumatic Silencers |
“GPS” Silencers are made with in-house porous plastics and assembly technique resulting in a very secured and safe construction.
The materials used in the manufacture of silencers are resistant to compressed air and accompanying particles of oil and moisture.
The design is robust to resist pneumatic shocks to which the silencer is subjected during the operation.
The silencers are available in 1/8”, 1/4", 3/8”, 1/2”, 3/4” and 1” BSP and 1/4” & 1/2” NPT sizes. |

When baffles are used in the exhaust port of pneumatic tool to reduce the noise level there is pressure loss and hence the power loss in the system. As the noise level is progressively reduced this loss of power increases; thus pressure loss should not be so high as to hamper the operations of the valve.
“GPS” silencers are designed to form the best compromise to these two opposing need. The exhaust air is made to pass through large number of omni-directionally interconnected microspores; this results in high reduction in noise level with low loss of pressure and power.
The silencers are tested for 225 P.S.I pressure, normally the pneumatic cylinders are operated at 150 P.S.I. pressure. The noise level of one exhaust port of 1/4" BSP, without silencer, is about 90 dB. When “GPS” silencer is used the noise level drops to about 70 dB with energy loss of about 7%. 90 dB corresponds to the noise produced by heavy truck or underground train passing at a distance of a few feet and represents the acknowledged danger level to which people should not be exposed at all. By Comparison 70 dB corresponds to normal conversation at a distance of 3 feet. For a noise level reduction of 20 dB the energy loss of 7% is negligible and is acceptable to any pneumatic equipment user.
